Neem Leaves

The neem tree (Azadirachta indica), has been attracting worldwide attention due to its wide range of medicinal properties. Neem has been extensively used in Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathic medicine and has become a cynosure of modern medicine.

I had five neem leaves washed and boiled and I drank it as tea.  It was bitter so I added about three teaspoons of Muscovado sugar.  A couple of stevia leaves would have been much preferable as sweetener but there wasn't any available.

The bitterness of the leaves, as with ampalaya and andrographis paniculata, is indicative of the neem's ability as a powerful blood purifier and detoxifier.  And that was the main reason for my drinking a mug of neem leaf tea, but only once a week because I do not want my blood to get too thinned out.

Neem elaborates a vast array of biologically active compounds that are chemically diverse and structurally complex. More than 140 compounds have been isolated from different parts of neem.  All parts of the neem tree-- leaves, flowers, seeds, fruits, roots and bark have been used traditionally for the treatment of inflammation, infections, fever, skin diseases and dental disorders.

And according to livestrong.com, using neem leaves can help to treat a wide variety of ailments and diseases, due to the tree's ability to kill or inhibit bacteria, fungi and viruses.  Also, that you can take neem to treat skin infections, stomach ulcers, fevers and respiratory ailments, as well as prevent or treat periodontal disease and tooth decay.

Hence, many studies support the claims that neem leaf and its constituents indeed exhibit immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, antihyperglycaemic, antiulcer, antimalarial, antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, antimutagenic and anticarcinogenic properties.

In 2005 scientists published a research report, Medicinal Properties of Neem Leaves: a review. It is a compilation of existing scientific studies and clinical trials. It shows very impressively just how versatile the leaves are.

Okra

Otherwise known as Lady Finger or gumbo, okra comes with a gorgeous flower when sprouting.  It belongs in the mallow family and quite a photogenic plant.  However, I am not one to appreciate its taste nor its "goo."

There are those, to minimize the slime, would keep the pods intact, and cook them briefly, such as stir-frying. Adding acidic ingredients like a few drops of lemon juice, tomatoes, or vinegar may help also.

Alternatively, according to Wikipedia, the pods can be sliced thinly and cooked for a long time so the slime dissolves, as in gumbo. The leaves can also be cooked and used as a soup thickener.  On the other hand, the immature pods may also be pickled.

Of most interest was when I came across about okra in the Daily Healthy Living Tips page on Facebook.  It claims this plant is effective in addressing diabetes.

The following is its recommended preparation and usage:

Take two pieces of okra and remove/cut both ends of each piece. Also put a small cut in the middle and put these two pieces in glass of water.  Cover the glass and keep it at room temperature during night.

The following early morning, before breakfast simply remove the two pieces of okra from the glass and drink that water.

Keep doing it on daily basis. Within two weeks, you will see remarkable results in reduction of your sugar.

The author's sister supposedly got rid of her diabetes in this manner. She was on Insulin for a few years, but after taking the okra every morning for a few months, she has stopped Insulin, but she continues to take the okra regimen every day. But she chops the lady fingers into fine pieces in the night, adds the water and drinks it.

The health benefits of Hydrotherapy

Last time I visited my grandfather’s homestead in Subic, I couldn’t help but take off my clothes, except for my underwear, and jump into the cool waters of this brook that leads to a lagoon.  It was around ten in the morning, the sun already searing, but the waters of this brook remained cool and exhilarating.

Just like in Subic, the weather here in Bohol is cold in the mornings, but it eventually gets hotter during the course of the day.  It would start to cool off again in the late afternoons and early evenings.  Be that as it may, I take a shower early in the morning without any heated water, and once again in the middle of the day – to cool off.  And how refreshing it is.

Compared that to life in the States wherein every shower or bath water is tempered with readily available hot water.  However, imagine my astonishment when my brothers came to Manila for a short visit.  Starkly noticeable was their receding hairline and the dry, thinning out of their hair. It was then I began to wonder if showering daily with steaming hot water could have caused such dilemma.

But then again, in all honesty, how many of us can actually take regular cold showers, especially in the morning? If one’s from a colder climate, such as during the winter months in the Eastern part of the United States, the number is likely to be even less. However, did you know that cold showers and baths have a long history in many cultures?. Vincenz Priessnitz, a farmer in the 1920s, developed and marketed a medical treatment he called Hydrotherapy .

According to greenmedinfo, Mr. Priessnitz sold the concept of using cold water to cure a long list of aliments, and achieved almost instant success. Unfortunately, as time passed, the popularity of hydrotherapy began to decline when medical professionals began to rely more on drugs to treat illnesses and the luxury of hot showers began to increase.

The use of hydrotherapy, however, as a viable medical treatment never completely stopped. Here are 10 of the many reasons why:

     1) Strengthens Immunity

Cold showers are sometimes touted as a preventative tonic for colds, flu, and infections. An experiment in Prague studied the effect of cold water immersions on athletic young men. They immersed themselves in water at 14°C (57°F), three times a week for six weeks.

Among many changes, they saw increased levels of two types of white blood cells: monocytes and lymphocytes. While certain lymphocytes are instrumental in eliminating bacteria, viruses, and toxins, monocytes are indirectly responsible for the engulfing and consuming of pathogens and foreign materials.

Researchers believe that the increased metabolic rate, which results from the body’s attempt to warm itself up, activates the immune system and releases more white blood cells in response. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that people who take regular cold showers are less likely to develop colds, flu’s, and even some forms of cancer.

2. Improves Blood Circulation

Good blood circulation is vital for overall cardiovascular health. Alternating between hot and cold water while showering, is an easy way to improve circulation. When exposed to cold water, our arteries and veins constrict or tighten. This process is called vasoconstriction. The temporary tightening helps blood to flow at a higher pressure as now there is less space for the blood to flow. This improves circulation.

Vasodilation, the opposite effect, and is done when we are exposed to heat. The natural tendency of the body when it is exposed to cold is that your blood rapidly circulates to your vital organs to keep them warm; hence, increasing your over all blood circulation.

Why should you be conscious of having good circulation? Well, it prevents such problems as hypertension, hardening of the arteries, and the appearance of varicose veins. Good circulation improves the performance of your system and thus help looking and feeling better.

3. Regulates Temperature

Cold showers provide a gentle form of stress that leads to thermogenesis (internal generation of body heat), which in turn activates the body’s adaptive repair systems. If you suffer from chronically cold hands and feet, or feel that you sweat an abnormal amount, try a cold shower.

4. Promotes Weight Loss / Increases Metabolism

Brown fat, as opposed to white fat is heavily involved in burning energy. Exposure to cold naturally stimulates the production of these brown fats. These cells burn glucose to try and produce as much heat energy as possible. Having a higher amount of brown fat leads to more energy being burned per second and therefore, more weight is lost.

As a result of the increased brown fat levels, and the increased blood pressure and body temperature, chemical reactions in the body will happen faster than they would have without regular cold showers. An increased metabolism is what a lot of people seek for because it means that any process in the body will become more efficient; meaning more weight loss will be seen and more growth/repair of muscles and otherwise will be seen.

5. Alleviates Depression

Depression is yet another thing that cold showers can help and prevent. Research at the Department of Radiation Oncology at Virginia Commonwealth University indicates that cold water has a stimulating affect on the brains blue spot, the main source of noradrenaline for our bodies. Noradrenaline is a chemical that might be used to help alleviate depression.

6. Improves Lymphatic Movement

The lymphatic system is a system of tubing separate from our blood vessels that is responsible for carrying away waste from your cells as well as help fight pathogens (disease). Unlike blood vessels, the lymphatic system does not have blood, it has lymph, which carries away waste products and white blood cells which handle infection. Also different from blood vessels is that the heart does not pump lymph around the body like it does the blood.

The lymph relies on the contraction of muscles. This contraction squeezes the lymph up to the thoracic duct so that the lymph can mix with the blood and then be dealt with by organs.

Cold showers cause whole-body contraction and this works excellently with the lymph system, squeezing the fluid up through the body. If the lymphatic system is compromised and not efficient, then the fluid pools at faraway places (usually the feet). This results in what is known as lymphedema (a type of edema ).

7. Deepens Breathing

What you will notice as an effect of cold showers is that you begin inhaling very deeply. This is to try and combat the stress of the shock, the vasoconstriction and the overall need for oxygen to respire and keep oneself warm. This process opens up the lungs much like strenuous physical exercise does and results in a higher average intake of oxygen, which is good for many things like not feeling tired during the day and doing better at sport or other exercises. Hydrotherapy is also scientifically proven to improve chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD ).

8. Keeps Skin and Hair Healthy

It is well known that hot water dries out our skin and hair. On the other hand, cold water can make our hair look shinier and our skin look healthier by tightening cuticles and pores, preventing them from getting clogged, thus reducing blemishes like acne. Cold water also contributes to detoxification which results in the squeezing of toxins and waste products out of the skin.

This detoxification has a good effect on the skin which appears more clean and young. Additionally, the cold water closes the cuticle which makes the hair stronger and prevents dirt from easily accumulating within our scalp. Stronger hair, of course, prevents hair from easily falling out and it helps in slowing down overall hair loss.

9. Increases Energy and Well-being

There are plenty of mental benefits to ending your shower with cold water. The ancient samurai warriors used to pour buckets of cold river water on their heads every morning in a Shinto practice called Misogi. This was a purification ritual on a spiritual level. They believe that it cleansed their spirit and helped start a fresh new day.

A cold shower can definitely leave one feeling invigorated and energized. The heart starts pumping, and the rush of blood through the body helps shake off the lethargy of the previous night’s sleep. Additionally, while there are not many studies to confirm, many people swear that cold showers are a definite stress reducer.

10. Increases Hormone Production

Cold water showers have the ability to increase hormone production and activity by giving the body’s glands a boost. For example, cold showers can be of great benefit to the reproductive system when trying to conceive a child. A man’s testes are not meant to get too hot; that’s why they hang outside of a man’s body. Sperm counts decrease when the temperature of a man’s testes increases. In fact, experiments done in the 1950s showed that hot baths were an effective contraceptive. Men who took a 30 minute hot bath every other day for 3 weeks were infertile for the next six months.

More recently, the University of California at San Francisco did a study with men who were exposed to 30 minutes of "wet heat" (hot baths, saunas and such) a week. When the men cut this exposure out, their sperm count went up by 491%, and their sperm’s motility improved as well. While switching from a hot to cold shower may not have as dramatic an effect, if you’re trying to reproduce, it surely won’t hurt. Furthermore, it has been said that cold water therapy helps regulate the endocrine system (including the adrenals and thyroid).

How to Start

Gradually adjusting from hot to cold showers is recommended. For many, a drastic change in temperature would be too much a stress to their body. Push yourself to step outside your comfort zone, while at the same time listen to what your body can handle. A great way to implement cold showers into your daily routine is by turning the water to cold for the last 30 seconds to a minute of your shower.

Give it a try and see what benefits you experience. Who knows, maybe the secret to the fountain of youth is hidden within cold showers.

Café Aficionado: Green coffee

Green coffee isn't new. There are those who believe that its cultivation originated in Arabia on the Red Sea over 900 years ago, and that at the time, the beans were not roasted but brewed in a manner quite similar to tea.

Roasted coffee certainly has its benefits too. Roasting coffee produces unique cancer-suppressing compounds not found in green coffee.  And since most people globally consume roasted coffee, the vast majority of studies performed on coffee's health benefits are on the roasted form.

In addition, there may also be unique mood-enhancing, even opiate-like properties in the roasted coffee bean associated with the fat-soluble compound known as cafestol, which may not be found (or easily absorbed) in green coffee. But such benefit may also be a liability for those who may be prone to drinking too much, or addicted to coffee.

What is green coffee?  According to Wikipedia, “green coffee refers to coffee produced from coffee beans that have not been roasted. Cultivation of coffee beans originated around 1100 AD in the area of Arabia on the Red Sea. At that time, roasting was not yet practiced so unroasted coffee beans were brewed to create a beverage similar to tea. Green beans are still utilized in some forms of traditional Arabic coffee.”

Green coffee had already been studied over thirty years ago for its possible liver-regenerating, detoxifying and anti-cancer properties.  It has been found that it contains far higher in sheer antioxidant potential than roasted coffee, and most any other beverages or fruits, such as blueberries and oranges.

Some green coffee bean extracts score 2500 or higher on the ORAC scale, which stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity – an abstract measurement of the potential for a substance to reduce oxidative stress. Compare this to an equal weight of blueberries, which scores 10, or Oranges which score 3.

What are the likely health benefits of green coffee?  The primary finding is that it has beneficial blood pressure modulating properties, as well as weight loss-inducing qualities.

According to GreenMedInfo, the other healing properties of green coffee are:

Green Coffee Lowers Blood Pressure

Back in 2005, a study published in the journal Hypertension Research found that male volunteers with mild hypertension given various doses of a water-soluble green coffee bean extract (GCE) saw significant reductions , in a dose-related manner, in both diastolic and systolic blood pressure.[vi]  The subjects received either 46 mg, 93 mg, or 185 mg of GCE once a day for 28 days.

Another study performed in 2006 found similar blood pressure lowering results using 140 mg/day green coffee bean extract of chlorogenic acid.

Finally, a study performed in 2007 found that green coffee is superior to roasted coffee in reducing blood pressure, due to its lower levels of hydroxyhydroquinone, a by-product of the roasting process. The ordinary coffee group experienced almost no effect.

Green Coffee Reduces Weight and Body Mass Index, and May Improve Type 2 Diabetes

In the most widely publicized study on green coffee, Dr. Joe Vinson of the University of Scranton lead a randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled crossover study which found that the consumption of green coffee bean extract reduced weight in obese subjects.

Subjects received either a high dose green coffee extract (1050 mg), a lower dose (700 mg) or a placebo for six-weeks, followed by a two-week washout period to reduce any influence of preceding treatment. Primary measurements were body weight, body mass index, and percent body fat. Blood pressure and heart rate were also measured.

The results were a significant reduction in observed body weight: "(-8.04± 2.31 kg), body mass index (-2.92 ± 0.85 kg/m(2)), and percent body fat (-4.44% ± 2.00%), as well as a small decrease in heart rate (-2.56 ± 2.85 beats per minute)." There we no significant changes to the diet over the course of the study, and impressively, body mass index for six subjects shifted from preobesity to the normal weight range.

The study concluded: "The results are consistent with human and animal studies and a meta-analysis of the efficacy of green coffee extract in weight loss. The results suggest that GCA may be an effective nutraceutical in reducing weight in preobese adults, and may be an inexpensive means of preventing obesity in overweight adults."

Dr. Vinson believes that green coffee's uniquely high concentration of chlorogenic acid relative to the roasted form may be responsible for some of its observed weight-loss promoting effects. Chlorogenic acid is known to increase the absorption of glucose, which offsets some of the insulin resistance and blood sugar elevations associated with type 2 diabetes. Indeed, there is a solid body of clinical literature linking chlorogenic acid to the well-known anti-diabetic properties of coffee .

So, is green coffee just another fad?  elative to some of the pharmaceutical interventions used today to treat overweight and obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure, the research thus far indicates green coffee may become a promising natural alternative.

The secret to joint pain relief — exercise

Here's another practical health tip from HEALTHbeat, Harvard Medical School newsletter, which I recommend to all friends (and I'm not getting paid for this):

Joint pain: it throbs, aches, and hurts. It may make you think twice about everyday tasks and pleasures like going for a brisk walk, lifting grocery bags, or playing your favorite sport. Sharp reminders of your limitations arrive thick and fast, practically every time you move.

What causes joint pain?

The culprits behind joint pain tend to be:

•           osteoarthritis
•           old injuries
•           repetitive or overly forceful movements during sports or work
•           posture problems
•           aging
•           inactivity

How exercise can help

Ignoring the pain won’t make it go away. Nor will avoiding all motions that spark discomfort. In fact, limiting your movements can weaken muscles, compounding joint trouble, and affect your posture, setting off a cascade of further problems. And while pain relievers and cold or hot packs may offer quick relief, fixes like these are merely temporary.

By contrast, the right set of exercises can be a long-lasting way to tame ankle, knee, hip, or shoulder pain. Practiced regularly, joint pain relief workouts might permit you to postpone — or even avoid — surgery on a problem joint that has been worsening for years by strengthening key supportive muscles and restoring flexibility.

Over time, you may find limitations you’ve learned to work around will begin to ease. Tasks and opportunities for fun that have been weeded out of your repertoire by necessity may come back into reach, too.

Beyond the benefits to your joints, becoming more active can help you stay independent long into your later years. Regular activity is good for your heart and sharpens the mind. It nudges blood pressure down and morale up, eases stress, and shaves off unwanted pounds. Perhaps most importantly, it lessens your risk of dying prematurely. All of this can be achieved at a comfortable pace and very low cost in money or time.

For more on developing and mastering a plan to relieve your joint pain, get a copy of HEALTHbeat's The Joint Pain Relief Workout.

Cow's or Hemp Milk: Which one is better?

Look at those cows and remember that the greatest scientists in
the world have never discovered how to make grass into milk.

                                     Michael Pupin

That may be true indeed, but then again, many people are now shying away from drinking milk. That's due to the extreme processes that milk undergoes, as well as the high amounts of antibiotics, hormones, and genetically-modified substances that cows are continually exposed to.

In the article The Dangers of Drinking Cow’s Milk, the author, Dr. Edward F. Group III, claims with much certainty that there are real and eminent dangers associated with drinking milk from cows.  And that all cows release toxins through their milk, as milk is a natural exit-portal for substances that the body cannot use.

The following is a list compiled by Dr. Group showing just a few of the artificially-engineered components found in the average glass of non-organic pasteurized and homogenized milk:

- A Veritable Hormone Cocktail: including pituitary, steroid, hypothalamic, and thyroid hormones (remember most cows are extremely stressed)

- Gastrointestinal Peptides:

- Nerve and epidermal growth factors, and the growth inhibitors MDGI and MAF

- rBGH (Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone): a genetically engineered hormone directly linked to breast, colon and prostrate cancer. This is injected into cows to increase milk production.[1 ]

- Pus: National averages show at least 322 million cell-counts of pus per glass![2 ] This is well-above the human limit for pus-intake, and has been directly linked to paratuberculosis bacteria, as well as Crohn’s disease . The pus comes from infected udders on the cows known as mastitis.

- Blood Cells: The USDA allows up to 1.5 million white blood cells per milliliter of commonly-sold milk.[3 ] Yes, you are drinking cows blood in the milk and the USDA allows this!

- Antibiotics: Currently, cows are in such a state of disease and mistreatment that they are continually being injected with antibiotic medicines, and rubbed down with chemical-laden ointments to deal with their chronic infections. Currently, regulating committees only test for 4 of the 85 drugs in dairy cows. This means that the other 81 drugs in cow’s milk are coming directly into your glasses and bodies. Estimates show that 38% of milk in the U.S. is “contaminated with sulfa drugs or other antibiotics,” according to a study by the Centre for Science in the Public Interest and published in the Wall Street Journal on December 29, 1989. A study from the FDA data showed that over half of all milk was laden with traces of pharmaceuticals yet nothing has been done to control this.

Essentially, not only are people drinking in these toxins, they are also taking in the energetic effects of the life of the cow.

In addition, studies show that many cows are infected with incredibly painful inflammatory infections such as mastitis . Due to over-milking, artificial hormones, bacteria and medications, cow’s udders can become chronically inflamed, thus altering the color and taste of the milk.

Over time, this bacterial invasion causes harm to the cow’s mammary gland, reeking havoc on the milk being produced. From parasitic worms to cancerous tumors, these diseases are often passed along to the next generation of cows, and more often, into the milk we drink.

Even more, the conditions in which cows live, as well as the rigorous milking regimes, cause dairy cattle to live in a permanent state of sympathetic (stress) response, as well as adrenal over-load. When our adrenal glands are overworked for long periods of time, there is a overload of cortisol in the blood. When we drink this milk, we are then exposed to the millions of stress-response cells in the milk of cows. It is no wonder that we are a chronically-stressed society!

Read more here.

For in-depth information on the dangers of cow’s milk, Dr. Group  recommends visiting www.NotMilk.com

As an alternative to cow’s milk and for those who cannot consume dairy because of dietary issues, Dr. Group recommends Hemp Milk.

Hemp milk is completely legal, and produced from the seeds of the hemp plant.  It has only begun to be sold in the United States within the past few years.

Organic hemp milk may very well be the best alternative for those who either do not like cow’s milk , suffer from lactose intolerance, or are vegetarians. While the taste of it may be something that you have to adjust to, you might just find that you actually prefer it to any of the other milk products you have tried.

Nutritional value of organic Hemp Milk

Organic hemp milk is also a great alternative to toxic cow’s milk and One 8-Ounce glass contains the following healthy nutrients:

* 900mg Omega-3 Fatty Acid
* 2800mg Omega-6 Fatty Acid
* All 10 Essential Amino Acids
* 4 grams of Digestible Protein
* 46% of RDA of Calcium
* 0% Cholesterol
* Potassium
* Phosphorous
* Riboflavin
* Vitamin A
* Vitamin E
* Vitamin B12
* Folic Acid
* Vitamin D
* Magnesium
* Zinc

And more…

Other Things You Need To Know About Organic Hemp Milk

It can be purchased in plain, vanilla, or chocolate flavors, and the boxes they are packaged in do not have to be refrigerated until after you open them. There are now multiple stores selling multiple brands, so if you are a consumer who prefers to stick to organic products, you should not have too much difficulty finding them.

Plain organic hemp milk contains no sugar, no cholesterol, and is free of soy and gluten. For many people, these factors make it an obvious choice for an abundant source of vital nutrients. The essential fatty acids, vitamins & nutrients that are contained in organic hemp milk provide a wide variety of health benefits.

Hemp Milk Benefits Include:

* Strengthened Immune System

* Clear, Healthy Skin, Hair & Nails

* Strong, Healthy Heart

* Increased Mental Capacity

As with anything, always conduct a sufficient amount of research on any products that you are considering trying. There are actually quite a few different brands available on the market, and not all of them are made with organic ingredients.

Try to get in the habit of reading product labels on everything, not just food and beverage items. When you regularly read ingredients of the things you and your family are using or consuming, you will develop a greater understanding of labeling practices and what to look for to be safe.

You can also make your own organic hemp milk.

There are no diseases, only symptoms

The following article is posted in full, but owned by the Cure Manual, which is an alternative healing site.  Everyone ought to check out this site.

There is No Disease
by Dr. Robert Young

Disease names like diabetes and osteoporosis are misleading and misinform patients about disease prevention.

There is a curious tendency in conventional medicine to name a set of symptoms a disease. I was recently at a compounding pharmacy having my bone mineral density measured to update my health stats. I spotted a poster touting a new drug for osteoporosis. It was written by a drug company and it said exactly this: ‘Osteoporosis is a disease that causes weak and fragile bones.’ Then, the poster went on to say that you need a particular drug to counteract this ‘disease.’

Yet the language is all backwards. Osteoporosis isn’t a disease that causes weak bones, osteoporosis is the name given to a diagnosis of weak bones. In other words, the weak bones are the result of excess acidity, and then the diagnosis of osteoporosis followed.

The drug poster makes it sound like osteoporosis strikes first, and then you get weak bones. The cause and effect is all backwards. And that’s how drug companies want people to think about diseases and symptoms: first you ‘get’ the disease, and then you are ‘diagnosed’ just in time to take a new drug for the rest of your life.

But it’s all hogwash. There is no such disease as osteoporosis. It’s just a made-up name given to a pattern of symptoms that indicate you are over-acid which causes your bones to get fragile.

As another example, when a person follows an unhealthy lifestyle that results in a symptom such as high blood pressure, that symptom is actually being assumed to be a disease all by itself and it will be given a disease name. What disease? The disease is, of course, ‘high blood pressure.’ Doctors throw this phrase around as if it were an actual disease and not merely descriptive of patient physiology.

This may all seem silly, right? But there’s actually a very important point to all this.

When we look at symptoms and give them disease names, we automatically distort the selection of available treatments for such a disease. If the disease is, by itself, high cholesterol, then the cure for the disease must be nothing other than lowering the high cholesterol. And that’s how we end up with all these pharmaceuticals treating high cholesterol in order to ‘prevent’ this disease and lower the levels of LDL cholesterol in the human patient. By lowering only the cholesterol, the doctor can rest assured that he is, in fact, treating this ‘disease,’ since the definition of this ‘disease’ is high cholesterol and nothing else.

But there is a fatal flaw in this approach to disease treatment: the symptom is not the cause of the disease. There is another cause, and this deeper cause is routinely ignored by conventional medicine, doctors, drug companies, and even patients.

Let’s take a closer look at high blood pressure. What actually causes high blood pressure? Many doctors would say high blood pressure is caused by a specific, measurable interaction between circulating chemicals in the human body. Thus, the ill-behaved chemical compounds are the cause of the high blood pressure, and therefore the solution is to regulate these chemicals. That’s exactly what pharmaceuticals do — they attempt to manipulate the chemicals in the body to adjust the symptoms of high blood pressure. Thus, they only treat the symptoms, not the root cause.

Or take a look at high cholesterol. The conventional medicine approach says that high cholesterol is caused by a chemical imbalance in the liver, which is the organ that produces cholesterol. Thus the treatment for high cholesterol is a prescription drug that inhibits the liver’s production of cholesterol (statin drugs). Upon taking these drugs, the high cholesterol (the ‘disease’) is regulated, but what was causing the liver to overproduce cholesterol in the first place? That causative factor remains ignored.

The root cause of high cholesterol, as it turns out, is primarily an over acidic diet. A person who eats foods that are acidic will inevitably cause the body to go into preservation mode and produce more cholesterol to neutralize the excess acid thus showing the symptoms of this so-called disease of high cholesterol. Its simple cause and effect. Eat the wrong foods, and you’ll produce too much acid which will cause the body to release cholesterol from the liver to bind up that acid which can be detected and diagnosed by conventional medical procedures.

You see it is not the cholesterol that is bad it is the acid producing food we eat that is bad. Reduce the acid producing foods like beef, chicken, pork, dairy, coffee, tea, soda pops, etc and you will reduce the protective cholesterol that is saving your life from excess acid foods.

Yet the root cause of all this is actually poor food choice, not some bizarre behavior by the liver. If the disease were to be accurately named, then, it would be called Acidic Food Choice Disease, or simply AFCD.

AFCD would be a far more accurate name that would make sense to people. If it’s an acidic foods choice disease, then it seems that the obvious solution to the disease would be to choose foods that aren’t so acidic. Of course that may be a bit of simplification since you have to distinguish between healthy alkaline foods and unhealthy acidic foods. But at least the name AFCD gives patients a better idea of what’s actually going on rather than naming the disease after a symptom, such as high cholesterol. You see, the symptom is not the disease, but conventional medicine insists on calling the symptom the disease because that way it can treat the symptom and claim success without actually addressing the underlying cause, which remains a mystery to modern medicine.

But let’s move on to some other diseases so you get a clearer picture of how this actually works. Another disease that’s caused by poor acidic food choice is diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the natural physiological and metabolic result of a person consuming refined carbohydrates and added sugars in large quantities, undigested proteins from beef, chicken, and pork without engaging in regular physical exercise that would compensate for such dietary practices.

The name ‘diabetes’ is meaningless to the average person. The disease should be called Excessive Acid Disease, or EAD. If it were called Excessive Acid Disease, the solution to it would be rather apparent; simply eat less sugar, eliminate all animal proteins, eggs, dairy, drink fewer soft drinks and so on. But of course that would be far too simple for the medical community, so the disease must be given a complex name such as diabetes that puts its solution out of reach of the average patient.

Another disease that is named after its symptom is cancer. In fact, to this day, most doctors and many patients still believe that cancer is a physical thing: a tumor. In reality, a tumor is the solution of cancer, not its cause. A tumor is simply a physical manifestation of bound up acidic cells so they do not spoil other healthy cells. The tumor is the solution to cells damaged by acids not the problem. The truth is cancer is not a cell but an acidic liquid. When a person ‘has cancer,’ what they really have is a latent tissue acidosis. They are absorbing their own acidic urine. It that would be a far better name for the disease: Latent Tissue Acidosis or LTA.

If cancer were actually called Latent Tissue Acidosis, it would seem ridiculous to try to cure cancer by cutting out tumors through surgery and by destroying the immune system with chemotherapy. And yet these are precisely the most popular treatments for cancer offered by conventional medicine. These treatments do absolutely nothing to support the patient’s immune system and prevent the build up of acids in the tissues. That’s exactly why most people who undergo chemotherapy or the removal of tumors through surgical procedures end up with yet more cancer a few months or a few years later. It’s also another reason why survival rates of cancer have barely budged over the last twenty years. (In other words, conventional medicine’s treatments for cancer simply don’t work.)

The main reason is current medical science wrongly perceives cancer as a cell when in reality cancer is an acidic liquid, like lactic acid. This whole situation stems from the fact that the disease is misnamed. It isn’t cancer, it isn’t a tumor and it certainly isn’t a disease caused by having too strong of an immune system that needs to be destroyed through chemotherapy. It is simply latent tissue acidosis. And if it were called latent tissue acidosis disease or urine in the tissues, the effective treatment for cancer would be apparent.

There are many other diseases that are given misleading names by western medicine. But if you look around the world and take a look at how diseases are named elsewhere, you will find many countries have disease names that actually make sense.

For example, in Chinese medicine, Alzheimer’s disease is given a name that means, when translated, ‘feeble mind disease.’ In Chinese medicine, the name of the disease more accurately describes the actual cause of the disease which is caused by acids or urine on the brain, whereas in western medicine, the name of the disease seems to be intended to obscure the root cause of the disease, thereby making all diseases sound far more complex and mysterious than they really are.

This is one way in which doctors and practitioners of western medicine keep medical treatments out of the reach of the average citizen. Because, by God, they sure don’t want people thinking for themselves about the causes of disease!

By creating a whole new vocabulary for medical conditions, they can speak their own secret language and make sure that people who aren’t schooled in medicine don’t understand what they’re saying.

That’s a shame, because the treatments and cures for virtually all chronic diseases are actually quite simple and can be described in plain language, such as making different alkaline food choices, getting more natural sunlight, drinking more alkaline water, engaging in regular physical exercise, avoiding specific acidic foods, supplementing your diet with green foods and green drinks and alkalizing nutritional supplements and so on.

See, western medicine prefers to describe diseases in terms of chemistry. When you’re depressed, you aren’t suffering from a lack of natural sunlight; you are suffering from a ‘brain chemistry imbalance’ that can only be regulated, they claim, by ingesting toxic chemicals to alter your brain chemistry. When your bones are brittle, it’s not acidic brittle bones disease; it’s called osteoporosis, something that sounds very technical and complicated. And to treat it, western doctors and physicians will give you prescriptions for expensive drugs that somehow claim to make your bones less brittle. But in fact, the real treatment for this can be described in plain language once again: regular physical exercise, vitamin D supplementation, mineral supplements that include calcium and strontium, natural sunlight, and avoidance of acidic foods such as soft drinks, white flour and added sugars.

In fact, virtually every disease that’s prominent in modern society — diabetes, cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, clinical depression, irritable bowel syndrome and so on — can be easily described in plain language without using complex terms at all. These diseases are simply misnamed. And I believe that they are intentionally misnamed to put the jargon out of reach of everyday citizens. As a result, there’s a great deal of arrogance in the language of western medicine, and this arrogance furthers the language of separation. Separation never results in healing. In order to effect healing, we must bring together the language of healers and patients using plain language that real people understand and that real people can act upon.

We need to start describing diseases in terms of their root causes, not in terms of their arcane, biochemical actions. When someone suffers from seasonal affective disorder or clinical depression, for example, let’s call it what it is: Sunlight Deficiency Disorder. To treat it, the person simply needs to get more sunlight. This isn’t rocket science, it’s not complex, and it doesn’t require a prescription.

If someone is suffering from osteoporosis, let’s get realistic about the words we use to describe the condition: it’s really Acidic Bones Disease. And it should be treated with things that will enhance bone density, such as nutrition, physical exercise and avoidance of acidic foods and drinks that strip away bone mass from the human body to neutralize the excess acids in the blood and tissues.

All of this information, of course, is rather shocking to old-school doctors and practitioners of western medicine, and the bigger their egos are, the more they hate the idea of naming diseases in plain language that patients can actually comprehend. That’s because if the simple truths about diseases and their causes were known, health would be more readily available to everyday people, and that would lessen the importance of physicians and medical researchers.

There’s a great deal of ego invested in the medical community, and they sure don’t want to make sound health attainable to the average person without their expert advice. Doctors all want to serve as the translators of ‘truth’ and will balk at any attempts to educate the public to either practice medicine on their own. But in reality, health (and a connection with spirit) is attainable by every single person. Health is easy, it is straightforward, it is direct and, for the most part, it is available free of charge.

A personal connection with our Creator is the same if we ask humbly in prayer for a relationship with Him, and guidance.

Don’t believe the names of diseases given to you by your doctor. Those names are designed to obscure, not to inform. They are designed to separate you from self-healing, not to put you in touch with your own inner healer. And thus, they are nothing more than bad medicine masquerading as modern medical practice.
