Mango Juice

According to Livestrong.com, a 1-cup serving of mango juice provides 58 percent of the recommended daily amount of vitamin A for men and 74 percent for women. Our body needs vitamin A for health of our eyes and skin tissue. Vitamin A provides a structural component of rhodopsin, the pigment located in our eyes that helps our eyes adjust in low light, explains the Oregon State University Linus Pauling Institute. Vitamin A also promotes immune function by keeping skin healthy, because your skin is the first line of defense against invaders.

One cup of mango juice provides 42 percent of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C for men and 50 percent for women. We need vitamin C for wound healing, collagen production, proper immune function and the maintenance and repair of bones, cartilage and teeth. Vitamin C also acts as an antioxidant, protecting your body from free-radical damage.

A study published in the May 2006 issue of "The Journal of Nutrition" reports mango juice is effective at preventing cancer in more than one way. Not only do the compounds in mango juice act as antioxidants, preventing damage to cells that may lead to cancer, but also these compounds are effective at inhibiting cancer cell growth and replication.

Furthermore, mango juice consumption rich in potassium can reduce the effects of sodium in increasing blood pressure, and are free to contribute to the decreased risk of stroke. One study showed that adding one piece of fruit that have a high potassium levels can prevent fatal stroke by 40%. Extra potassium consumption of 400 mg per day may reduce the likelihood of heart disease and blood vessels. Every 100 grams of mango contained potassium at 189 mg.
